Counter Cafe

This should be one of the best new restaurants in Austin.  Hands down.  The atmosphere is casual and clean.  There are half a dozen tables and plenty of seats at the bar in this tiny eatery.  What this place lacks in size & seating, it makes up for ten fold with terrific food.  The bar is my favorite seat in the house.  From here one can see the cooks in action.  The wait staff and cooks are always friendly.  I have been to this place about 7 times in the past six months or so.  Each time I have left satisfied and impressed.  The grilled pimento cheese sandwich is absolutely divine.  And that's coming from a person who does not even particularly like pimento cheese.  I have had trouble branching out and trying other items on the menu because this sandwich is just THAT good.  Everything here is so fresh.  The strawberry & goat cheese salad is also a standout.  Try the grilled pimento cheese sandwich and substitute a side strawberry & goat cheese salad.  You will not be disappointed.  I have had the oysters and crab cakes each once.  Both were delicious.  The breakfast looks great, but I have yet to try it myself I have heard people rave about the eggs benedict.  For under $10, you cannot beat the quality of food the Counter Cafe serves up.  Great food, great people, great place - try it out!
